We chatted with Carrie Seberger, coordinator of St. Francis’ 50th Annual Harvest Ball, about this year’s community event.
What is Harvest Ball?
This year we will celebrate the 50th annual Harvest Ball. This event began to raise funds for Lenihan High School in 1967. This event continues as a fundraising event for St. Francis Catholic School. Monies raised help with technology, curriculum and overall improvements as well as scholarships for families who need financial assistance. However, Harvest Ball, in recent years, has become Marshalltown’s premier night out! Read on to learn more.
When is Harvest Ball?
Saturday, November 4th at the Impala Ballroom on W. Lincoln Way in Marshalltown. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 p.m.
Who can come to Harvest Ball?
The entire community is invited to Harvest Ball! This is an adults-only event. Invitations are sent out, but they are not exclusive. If you are interested in making a reservation, please call Carrie at 750-9822.
How much does it cost?
We offer an early bird pricing for those who pay before October 20th. That price is $80/couple or $45/person. After October 20th, the price goes up to $90/couple or $55/person. Think Date Night! If you were to drive to Des Moines for a nice dinner for 2, you would spend at least $60. Then add in the cost of a show, say at the Civic Center and you’d spend at least $50 in tickets. That’s $110! This does not include the time it takes to drive to Des Moines…thus more time for the sitter at your home. At Harvest Ball, we offer you the first class evening all in our hometown and all for a lower price! All it takes is a phone call to Carrie @ 750-9822 to make reservations.
Do I have to dress fancy?
No. Casual attire is welcome, but it is an event that allows for getting all spiffed up! Last year we had evening gowns, little black dresses, suits, jeans and dress shirts and business casual khakis and polos, too. Come however you feel you will be the most comfortable!
What can I expect to see/experience at Harvest Ball?
The Impala Ballroom is a huge venue with lots of great space! Social hour begins at 5 p.m. with complementary wine and a full bar available. Enjoy perusing a wide array of silent and live auction items as you mingle and socialize! Think Christmas shopping outside the big box stores! There are always amazing one-of-a-kind items on the auctions just in time for the holidays. Our auction is created by donations from local businesses, St. Francis families as well as community members. If you have something you would like to donate to our auction, just call Carrie at 750-9822!
If you are a businessperson, this event is great for networking. Business leaders, small business owners, city officials and more attend Harvest ball. A full-service, sit-down meal is served after social hour. You will be treated to dinner catered by Smokin’ G’s of Marshalltown. After dinner, we have a vibrant live auction that is just so much fun! Our silent auction will close after live auction, so if there was something you maybe missed on live auction, you’ll still have time to win something on silent auction! Our night concludes with a show by world touring illusionist~ Reza. If you check out his videos at rezalive.com, you’ll be amazed! We cannot wait! This event is for all! We hope you will decide to come and bring your friends! Just call Carrie @ 750-9822 for reservations.
